We’re coming back.

MY LIFE HAS LED UP TO THIS FUCKING MOMENT, A COMEBACK SWEET MOTHER OF GHGFHGFHGFG

Yankees | Alyss & Sam

It had been a long time since Alyss had felt a sense of normalcy in her life. After countless run ins with government agents, being trapped in zoo and almost bleeding to death she’d had enough. For one day she wanted to stop worrying and simply enjoy herself.  A ball game seemed like the perfect way to pass the time, especially since it was easy to blend in.

Alyss wasn’t all that much into baseball, in fact she found it incredibly boring, but it’s what normal people would seem to do on the weekend right? Go to a nice ball game.

With both hands shoved down her pockets she maneuvered her way through the masses of people with caution. As her eyes scanned crowd she met eyes with a man, followed by a small child trailing behind, his son most likely.

Their eyes locked and the two stared at each other for a brief moment, the man cocked his head slightly as his eyes narrowed at Alyss. She broke eye contact immediately and quickened her pace not paying attention to the direction she moved towards.

A sudden jolt brought her back to reality when she’d abruptly run into someone. Alyss mumbled something inaudible and regained her composure, slightly surprised as the person stopped to apologize to her.”That was entirely my fault, I wasn’t paying attention.” she turned around, met by a mans smiling face.

You have got to be kidding me, Alyss thought. She almost had to stop herself from gagging at his sickly sweet words.

“What’s the rush?” he asked curiously.

Alyss furrowed her brows and shot him a look, “That is none of your business.” she replied sternly. She glanced around for the man with the little boy, they were gone, nowhere to be seen. It left her with the unsettling feeling that someone was watching her.

The girl’s look and her snappy words made it clear: she didn’t want to talk. Naturally, Sam could have shrugged it off, continued his mission and detained the agent, who was now disappearing into the seating area, his son’s cackle still blatantly obvious as to their location. But there was something niggling at the back of his mind, telling him to stay with the girl. Even if she had been running, that girl shouldn’t have made him stumble.

As she went to pass him, he turned on his heel and casually kept pace with her, walking just behind her, a musing ponder humming from his lips as his hands buried into his pockets.

“You’re right, it’s probably none of my business” He responded lightly, making it clear to the girl that even though she was finished with the conversation, he wasn’t “But you’ve hardly given my incentive as to your answer.” He bent down slightly, to make his voice heard over the bustle of excited baseball fans, his tone playful and a small smile creeping onto his lips “So what is it? Boyfriend troubles? Are you the star player of the game? Or are you just desperate for a corn dog?”

Startled, she whipped around eye to eye with the man, the same annoying smile still plastered on his face.

“Listen I don’t know what you want but don’t ever follow me again, I hate it when people follow me.”

It was obvious to Alyss that there was an ulterior motive behind the mans questions, but at the moment, she wasn’t in the right mind state to give it much thought. All she wanted to was get away as quickly as possible.

Yankees | Alyss & Sam

samuel-mephis:

Sam was still relatively new to the mission he had been thrown into, but he wasn’t unfamiliar with New York City. In fact, it seemed like one of the only places in the world that he enjoyed returning to, whether it was for business or pleasure. Most places passed through him, like a transient dream or untouchable state. But the Big Apple was one of the only places he could indulge in; watching the people pass him and feeling their experiences as if they were his own to keep. In his line of work, it was hard to find an attachment to anything that remotely felt real, or worthwhile, so the mixture of big city dreams and gravitational city living brewing in New York City seemed like the perfect balance to immerse himself in.

As he drew up to the Yankee’s Stadium in the Bronx, he glanced around the masses of people, spilling into the front gates and chatting excitedly as they flooded to their seats to watch the baseball game. He adjusted the cap over his head casually, moving with the crowd so as not to draw any attention to himself, shoving his hands in his pockets and keeping his head low. Today’s excursion however, wasn’t for his own benefit. It was business.

Sam had been trailing a government agent since his controlled observation of a Super’s abduction. This man, Agent Willows, was a weapons expert by night, and a family man by day. Sam kept a steady distance as he trailed the man, easily noticeable with the squealing delights emanating from his young son swinging on his shoulders. Agent Willows would prove useful to finding out information about Project Shepherd, especially with an asset like his little boy in danger. He had booked seats a row back from the man, his contacts in the force still fiercely loyal, which he was thankful for.

As he moved through the gates, he was momentarily distracted by a sudden force against his side, causing him to stumble slightly from the loss of momentum. He expected a large man, burly and angry, but found himself frowning as he looked down to find a small girl, with an impertinent look on her face. Sam wasn’t the burliest of people, but he was strong enough not to be knocked off his feet by a small girl. It didn’t look as if she were on steroids, so how did she cause him to stumble?

“Sorry,” He caught her shoulder gently as she went to pass him, turning her back in his direction and smiling casually, initiating conversation with a smooth charm “That was entirely my fault, I wasn’t paying attention.” His eyes were warm and endearing as he met the girl’s “What’s the rush?”

On The Run (Alyss & Chris)

Alyss let out an exasperated sigh, she could sense his impatience. They both just wanted to get rid of each other as soon as possible and get on with their lives.

“We’re here.” she slowed her pace till they both stopped in front of the apartment. It wasn’t until then that she realized her injured foot had stopped hurting and was almost numb. That was defiantly not a good sign.

Chris shot her a look at the sigh but didn’t say anything. Once she announced that they had arrived, he waited for her to walk ahead of him. Since he didn’t know exactly where they were going, it made more sense for Alyss to lead the way. Besides, if she saw anything or anyone that shouldn’t be there, she would notice it much easier if Chris wasn’t constantly asking her which way to go—which he had a feeling would happen since Alyss hadn’t given him detailed information when they had first started towards the apartment. She had just directed him, not told him where they were actually going specifically.

Alyss gently slid from under Chris’s arm, she hopped up the small steps of the building towards the door, it opened with a click.

“Come on.” she said gesturing Chris towards the door, “There’s no elevator here, so I’m going to need help.”

On The Run (Alyss & Chris)

“Whatever..” Alyss muttered under her breathe. There was no point in arguing with Chris when all it would do was start a huge fight again. Most people would ignore her remarks or simply shrug them off, but Chris was different, he always had something to say, scolding her like she was a child.

Thank god we’re almost there, Alyss thought as the apartment building came into view.

Chris bit back a frustrated noise at Alyss’s comment. “Are we almost there?” he gritted through his teeth, wanting nothing more than to go home, take a shower to scrub off the blood, and put on some clean clothes. Chris had been surprised that the temperature wasn’t doing its regular drop routine. Usually when he got mad the temperature would rapidly decline, though maybe it just depended on how mad he was. Or maybe he was finally getting the hang of detaching his anger from his ability.

He hoped it was the latter. It would be nice to know he was actually gaining a little control again. Besides, Chris didn’t like the fact that every time he lost his temper it would start affecting everyone around him.

On The Run (Alyss & Chris)

christopher-dundee:

They walked in silence the whole time leaving them each to their own thoughts, which is exactly how Alyss liked it, she had never been much for small talk anyways.

As they made their way through the streets people glanced giving them strange looks, it only made Alyss’s bitter mood worse. She gritted her teeth fighting the urge to lash out on every single person who stared.

“This way.” she said tugging on Chris’s elbow. Just as they rounded the corner a older woman looked them wide eyed and gasped horrified.

Alyss had had enough of everyone gawking and whispering, as if they weren’t being obvious enough.

“What are you staring at lady, never seen a little blood before?” she remarked angrily, the woman quickly turned away avoiding her gaze as they passed by. Alyss didn’t bother to look at Chris already knowing he was probably rolling his eyes at her.

Chris kept any and all comments to himself while they walked. He just wanted to get Alyss to her apartment without anything else happening. Unfortunately, walking the streets of New York practically covered in blood was drawing too much attention. Chris knew Alyss’s pant leg was soaked with blood, but he wasn’t sure what else was. Still, it wasn’t exactly discreet. Plus, Chris’s hands were still red and it kind of looked like he had stuck his hand in red paint. His shirt had a ton of blood, too, from where he had carried the teenager earlier.

“You don’t have to be such a jerk to them.” Chris stated bluntly, not looking at her, “If you saw a man and a teenager with blood all over themselves, you’d react just like them.” Chris wasn’t exactly happy with everyone’s reactions, but there wasn’t anything he could do. As long as no cops were involved people could whisper and gasp and stare all they wanted.

“Whatever..” Alyss muttered under her breathe. There was no point in arguing with Chris when all it would do was start a huge fight again. Most people would ignore her remarks or simply shrug them off, but Chris was different, he always had something to say, scolding her like she was a child.

On The Run (Alyss & Chris)

christopher-dundee:

Alyss went stiff under his arm, she wasn’t used to physical contact with people unless you counted the times she’d beaten them up. “Not very long.” She looked around recognizing a few buildings, it was big city but wandering around in her free time had it’s advantages. “Just lead and I’ll tell you which way to go.”

Chris ignored the teenager when she stiffened. He reluctantly started walking, wishing she would just tell him where exactly they were going so he had a good destination in mind. But Chris was done arguing with Alyss by this point. He just wanted to get her home, make sure she didn’t need his help anymore, and then leave. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with a moody teenager who threw insults at him when all he had been doing was trying to help.

He was tired of helping people when they just turned around and treated him like everything he did for them was no big deal. Chris wasn’t expecting undying gratitude, but a ‘Thanks’ or a ‘You’re awesome’ tossed his way would definitely make him feel better.

And he knew you were supposed to do good deeds without expecting thanks, but it was still nice to hear. Chris didn’t want any hugs or anything, just a simple ‘thank-you’ would do the trick.

They walked in silence the whole time leaving them each to their own thoughts, which is exactly how Alyss liked it, she had never been much for small talk anyways.
